Knit Me Chic Granny

Recently, Vanda Vintage helped me to discover the name of a particular pattern, called Granny Square. Say what? The Granny Square seems pretty simple. Crochet around and around until you have what looks like a square. (I am recalling my grandmother using the individual squares as pot holders or as coasters way back when.) Seems practical. But wait! You can also connect several Granny Squares to create those all to familiar thrift store blankets, or shawls, capes, sweaters or… the possibilities are as endless as the imagination.

At this point, I’m fascinated by this retro crochet trend and decided to Google it. Guess what? Crochet Granny Squares have turned chic, having hit the runway for Fall / Winter collections. I am kind of bummed that I missed this. (But it’s not too late!)

Retro references remained strong, as House of Holland has recreated the granny square into amazing cocktail entire that feels fresh and sophisticated. Yet, there remains that familiar cozy center that the Granny Square offers.

Granny Squares kitsch-chic? Definitely. And we’re on it!
Keep your eye out for these amazing pieces. Or find it vintage.

Dare I say it? Fall is but a hop, skip, and jump away. I, for one, particularly relish this season. The cool foggy air, the trees that change shape, and the mid-day tea that warms you from the inside are all things I look forward to. I love the richness of the landscape that emerges, as it prepares for winter, and neon {esque} shades that appear on almost fallen leaves. Don’t you? It is these moods that get me thinking about the colors all around me and that’s what inspires the colors that I will inhabit this Autumn. Colors that I can’t wait to wear this Fall are hot pinks, rich burgundies, camel tones & mustards, foggy shades of green, and wispy sheers.

What will inspire your Fall color collection?
Will it be your moods, colors in nature, or?? Tell us!

On the Radar: Rack ‘Em Hot Pink

c/o chictopia

We’ve got an obsession, and it’s, clearly, HOT PINK!
Part of our job at Lucky Rabbit is to surf the internet to find inspiration for the shop and key-in on what’s trending. {sounds fun, right?!} Happily, we are not alone in this neon obsession. We’re spotting looks all over the inter-webs and on the streets of SF. Pink dresses, shoes, LIPS, the list goes on! Here are some of our current muses!

Calling All L.A. Dwellers

There’s a special event coming your way! That’s right! You have read correctly. We’re encouraging you to get off the inter-webs, breathe in the sunshine, and stroll through a local Los Angeles vintage pop-up, hosted by Fair Season. Find it at the courtyard at Space 15 Twenty. Have you heard of it yet? It’s like a the ultimate yard sale for vintage & fashion lovas, alike.

Who’s selling? Only the best! I happen to have an inside scope that Trashy Vintage and Hella Vintage are taking it off-line for a meet and greet, as you get to browse their stash.

Make this Sunday (Aug. 14) awesome by sipping unsweetened iced tea, strolling vintage collections, and dancing while a dj rocks the jams! Top it off with Umami Burger. Bammm! That’s a California Sunday!

Let Them Know! Respond to the e-vite & get more info (here).
